Man Charged in Designer's Death May Challenge Findings

A famous songwriter's son charged with murdering a swimsuit designer may contest findings that she died of strangulation and drowning in a New York City hotel bathtub.

The 25-year-old Brooks has pleaded not guilty. Brooks told police Cachay was sleeping when he left her at the Soho House hotel.
       
A bottle of prescription drugs was found in the pair's room. But medical examiners have declined to say whether any drugs were found in Cachay's system.

The 33-year-old Cachay was found dead in an overflowing bathtub at the Soho House hotel. Medical examiners have found she was strangled and drowned.

Friends of the victim say she had been dating the 24-year old Brooks for a few months and was in the process of breaking up with him.

The elder Brooks is charged with numerous counts of sexual assault stemming from accusations that he attacked young women after luring them to his apartment with promises of acting jobs.
