Psych Patient Beaten to Death After Domino Game at Brooklyn Hospital

A patient in the psychiatric ward of a Brooklyn hospital was found beaten to death on the bathroom floor, and investigators believe he was killed by a man who was playing a game of dominoes with him moments earlier, sources tell NBC 4 New York.

The 47-year-old victim and 20-year-old suspect were playing the game just before 9 p.m. Tuesday when the nurses announced it was time for showers and meds, according to a spokeswoman for Interfaith Hospital in Bed-Stuy.

The suspect went to the bathroom to take a shower. Hospital policy allows only one patient at a time in the shower, and the bathroom is locked and guarded by an employee.

But according to the spokeswoman, the victim somehow got into the shower, and a few minutes later was found dead on the floor. Police said he suffered blunt force trauma to his chest and head.

Law enforcement sources tell NBC 4 New York that the suspect has made statements indicating the victim made sexual advances toward him while he was in the shower.

The suspect is being held at Kings County Hospital. Police described him as a person of interest in the case.
