Man Arrested in Choking, Attempted Rape of 15-Year-Old: NYPD

A man has been arrested in connection with the choking and attempted rape of a 15-year-old girl earlier this year in Queens, police said Saturday.

A 35-year-old Queens resident was arrested on charges of attempted rape, assault and strangulation, according to the NYPD. The development came days after investigators released surveillance footage of a suspect making a purchase at a bodega.

According to police, the teenager was talking with her attacker on July 12 near 109th Road and Farmers Boulevard in St. Albans when the man began choking her. The girl passed out, and the man tried to rape her before running away, police said.

It's not clear if the girl was seriously injured.
