Man Arrested, Charged in Brutal Attack of Bronx Girl Near Subway Station: NYPD

Authorities have arrested and charged a man in the brutal attack on a teen girl in the Bronx.

Shaun Lewis was arrested Friday, police said. The 27-year-old was charged with attempted rape, assault, strangulation, forcible touching and endangering the welfare of a child.

It's not clear if he has a lawyer who would comment on the charges.

Lewis, a parolee, was convicted of robbery in the first degree and was sentenced to five years in jail. He was released in 2014, and is currently under five years of post-release supervision.

Police said that the girl had gotten off a northbound 2 train and was walking near the Bronx River at about 4 a.m. when Lewis allegedly set on her.

He beat and kicked her in the head several times before dragging her to a nearby park, where police said she was possibly sexually assaulted.

The girl was unconscious after the attack, but came to at about 6 a.m. A good Samaritan helped her and brought her to the hospital.

Police said the teen had bruising to her head, missing teeth and she might have broken her pelvis.

Residents living in the area said they were sickened and on edge after learning of the attacks.

""You know I'm very concerned, I think I could take care of myself but I don't know," said Katina Riullano.

The victim is listed in stable condition.
