A man is in custody for allegedly trying to smuggle $300,000 worth of cocaine into the United States at Newark airport, authorities said.
The suspect, 33-year-old Antonio Camara Jimenez, was stopped earlier this month after drug-sniffing dogs detected something in his baggage.
Officers discovered bags labeled as oatmeal along with hidden compartments in his luggage that contained about 15 pounds of cocaine. Jiminez was traveling from Peru, officials said.
Jimenez now faces federal charges for smuggling narcotics.
