Man Accused of Trading Sex With 12-Year-Old Girl for Pain Pills

Walter Hurst, of Bay Shore, was arrested Thursday and charged with criminal sale of a controlled substance, criminal solicitation and criminal possession of a controlled substance

A 57-year-old Long Island man has been arrested for allegedly setting up a sexual encounter with a 12-year-old girl in exchange for pain pills, police say.

Walter Hurst, of Bay Shore, was arrested Thursday and charged with criminal sale of a controlled substance, criminal solicitation and criminal possession of a controlled substance.

Detectives say Hurst showed up at a Hicksville hotel to meet with a 12-year-old girl for sex. He allegedly had made prior arrangements with a third party that, in exchange for the girl, he would receive 10 Oxycodone pills.

Hurst was arrested when he arrived at the hotel. He was found in possession of 10 Oxycodone pills and one Ativan pill, a sedative.

Hurst is expected to be arraigned Friday in Hempstead. Information on his attorney wasn't immediately available.
