Police say a man impersonated a police officer and sexually assaulted a woman in Trenton.

A man has been accused of impersonating a police officer before sexually assaulting a clerk in a New Jersey store.

Trenton police say 54-year-old Gustavo Garcia was arrested Sunday afternoon, a day after the alleged crimes. He is being held on $500,000 bail and it was not immediately clear if he had a lawyer.

Police say Garcia walked into a store at about 1 p.m. Saturday and allegedly told a woman working there that he was a police officer. They say he showed her a small black radio and a handgun.

Authorities say he allegedly took the woman into a bathroom and physically and sexually assaulted her before leaving the store.
