Macy's Employee Helps Friends Steal $4,000 in Merchandise: Police

A Macy's employee and two of her friends were arrested after the store worker allegedly let them go through the checkout line without paying for more than $4,000 worth of merchandise.

Police said the 19-year-old employee allegedly let her 20-year-old and 23-year-old friends leave with clothing and accessories from the Macy’s at Palisades Mall in West Nyack on Saturday.

She allegedly created a fake transaction and canceled it so they could pass by the cash register.

Loss prevention employees noticed the theft and reported it to police.

The three women were charged with grand larceny, criminal possession of stolen property and falsifying business records. They were released on their own recognizance and are due back in court on Dec. 17.
