MTA to NYers: Stop Putting Slushy Boots on Bus Seats — Please

The MTA’s courtesy campaign -– led by the now renowned plea for no more "manspreading" on the subway -- is making its way to city buses.

The "Courtesy Counts" campaign is rolling out on all 4,600 buses this week, the agency says.

The campaign ads, like those already posted in 2,600 subway cars, are gentle reminders to use basic etiquette while using public transportation, the MTA says. The colorfully-designed placards employ simple graphics to illustrate behavioral “do” and “don’t” scenarios.

The bus ads will carry different messages than the subway signs. For example, “Keep your feet off the seat,” reminds commuters not to place their slushy boots on a seat that someone else will soon be sitting in and “Don’t crowd the front of the bus,” reminds bus customers to make room for others trying to get on.

The MTA says similar ads will soon pop up in commuter railroads.
