3-Alarm Fire Erupts in Lower East Side High-Rise

The fire began on the 16th floor, the FDNY said.

More than 135 firefighters battled a three-alarm fire in a high-rise building on the Lower East Side Wednesday.

The blaze began on the 16th floor of 89 Columbia Street, a 21-story building, the FDNY said. It then spread to the 17th and 18th floors, officials said.

No injuries have been reported.
