NYC High Schooler Wants to Thank Stranger Who Returned His Lost Wallet

A New York City high schooler is trying to track down the good Samaritan who reunited him with his lost wallet.

Khevaunn St. Michael Ellis told NBC 4 New York that his wallet fell out of his pocket while riding the F train on Dec. 2. He said he realized he left it on the train as soon as he stepped onto the platform and tried to get back aboard to get it, but the doors closed.

"I thought it was gone for good," he said. "I immediately tried to replace everything."

The 18-year-old said he got a new wallet, ID and MetroCard and was shocked when a fellow student at Manhattan Comprehensive Day and Night High School brought him an envelope on Tuesday. To his amazement, the wallet was inside.

He said he wanted to thank the person who sent it, but there was no return address on the envelope.

"That was a really rare and good deed done that should be commended," he said. "That's good civil behavior."

Ellis said that he thinks that the person who returned the lost wallet must have known to send it to his school because he had a student ID inside it.

He said he'd like to send the person who sent him his wallet a Christmas card as a message of thanks.

If you or someone you know sent the wallet back to Ellis, send NBC 4 New York a message here.
