Long Island Girl, 16, Charged in Stabbing Death of Teen

A 16-year-old Long Island girl is accused of fatally stabbing one teenage girl and wounding another during an argument in front of her Freeport home, police said Sunday.

Abigail Thomas, 17, stabbed with a knife in her lower back during the fracas, died at a local hospital, investigators said. A 16-year-old girl, who was slashed in her chest, was treated and released.

A 9-year-old girl, present during the argument, was not injured.

The girl was arraigned on charges of first-degree manslaughter and second-degree assault in First District Court in Hempstead, according to the Nassau County Police Department.

Bail was set Sunday at $500,000. The girl's attorney declined to comment.
