LIRR Service Back to Normal After Delays

Long Island Rail Road service has mostly returned to normal after it reported delays systemwide Tuesday afternoon.

The railroad said signal trouble in one of the East River tunnels forced some cancellations and delays on trains. Delays were initially reported on all branches of the LIRR on its website.

Service has since been restored to all but one branch.

Last Tuesday, a combination of problems jammed up trains from Penn Station, resulting in wall-to-wall congestion inside Penn Station at the height of the evening rush.
