Police Investigate After Long Island Woman Gets “Idiota” Note in Food Delivery

Police on Long Island are investigating after a woman complained that she found a discriminatory note calling her an "idiota" inside a food delivery.

Ana Bautista told NBC 4 New York her stomach turned when she opened her lunch order and found a hastily scribbled note that read: "This is America speak Englese idiota."

"I didn't expect to get this, I feel very upset," Bautista said.

The delivery man allegedly told Bautista the note had been written by his boss at the Monte Pizzeria in Old Bethpage, a restaurant Bautista and her-coworkers at a warehouse in nearby Melville order from frequently.

Bautista said she had selected a grilled chicken hero from the menu, but a chicken parm was delivered instead. She called the restaurant to complain, and then found the insulting note in her corrected order.

After trying unsuccessfully to ask the restaurant about the note, Bautista said she went to the authorities.

Nassau County police say their bias coordinator is aware of the complaint and that detectives are investigating the case.

When asked by NBC 4 New York to comment on the complaint, a person who answered the phone at the restaurant said it was too busy and could not discuss the note.

Outside the restaurant Friday, customers said they felt whoever wrote the note should be fired and held accountable.
