Long Island Man Arrested After Threatening Cop on Facebook: Police

A Long Island man is facing charges he sent threatening private messages to a police officer through Facebook.

Police say 19-year-old Julian Velasquez was ordered held on $3,000 bail following his arrest on Wednesday. He was charged with two counts of aggravated harassment and one count of menacing.

The name of his attorney was not immediately known.

Glen Cove Police Det. Lt. John Nagle says an officer stopped Velasquez on Jan. 19 for driving an uninsured vehicle.

Two days later, Velasquez allegedly sent the threatening messages to that officer. Nagle said the threats included that the officer should be careful where he goes around town while off-duty.

Police say he also allegedly bragged that the officer did not find drugs that were in his car when he was stopped.
