Long Island Man Killed Wife With Dumbbell: Police

A Long Island man accused of killing his wife at their East Meadow home late last month struck her repeatedly with a dumbbell, according to reports.

Mirian Bejarano, 52, died from died from blunt force trauma, according to Newsday.

Police say her husband, 53-year-old Hector Bejarano, has been charged in her death. He was arrested Wednesday on a second-degree murder charge.

Mirian Bejarano was found unconscious in a home on Prospect Avenue in East Meadow on April 28, according to police. She died shortly after officers arrived at the house.

Hector Bejarano, who was represented by the Legal Aid Society at his arraignment Thursday, entered a plea of not guilty, Newsday reports.

He was ordered held without bail and is due back in court on Monday.
