Long Island Man Faces Aggravated DWI After Crash: Police

A Long Island man was charged with aggravated driving while intoxicated after his car was involved in an accident and police found his baby son in the back seat, authorities said Sunday.

A car driven by Andres Collado, 27, of West Hempstead, rear-ended a jeep that was attempting a left turn on Long Beach Road in Oceanside at about 10:45 p.m. Saturday, according to Nassau County police. Collado appeared to be intoxicated and was arrested, police said.

Collado's 1-month-old son was secured in the back seat and released to his mother, who was at the scene, investigators said.

No injuries were reported.

In addition to aggravated DWI, Collado was charged with unlicensed operation of a vehicle and endangering the welfare of a child, police said.
