A Long Island man was critically injured early Saturday when struck by a hit-and-run driver in East Islip, Suffolk County police said.
Jimmy Rice, 49, of Brentwood, was taken to Southside Hospital in Bay Shore after the 3:10 a.m. incident, investigators said.
Rice was walking across Carlton Avenue, just south of Sunrise Highway, when he was struck by a southbound vehicle, described as a pickup truck, police said.
