2 Long Island Arrests for DWI With Children in Car

One arrest was in East Hampton and the other in Amityville

Police on Long Island made two separate arrests over the weekend involving drivers who were allegedly intoxicated with children in their cars.

A woman who had four children in her car ranging in age from 5 to 10 was arrested in East Hampton for a traffic violation and subsequently failed field sobriety tests.

Elizabeth A. Forsberg was arrested Saturday for driving while intoxicated.

Another man was arrested in Amityville and charged with driving while intoxicated with his 15-year-old son in the car.

Jairo Penate-Cruz allegedly drove through a red light at Broadway Avenue and Oak Street in Amityville at around 4 a.m. Sunday and an officer who pulled him over determined he was intoxicated.

Penate-Cruz was charged with aggravated driving while intoxicated with a child passenger 15 years old or younger, driving while intoxicated and endangering the welfare of a child.

Information on lawyers for Forsberg and Penate-Cruz was not immediately available.
