Armed Livery Cab Robber Sought in Harlem, Bronx

Police are looking for an armed robber who's been targeting livery cab drivers in Harlem and the Bronx.

In the first case, the suspect got into a livery cab near West 176th Street and University Avenue late July 18, and asked to be taken to West 149th Street and Harlem River Drive in Harlem.

He then stopped the cab on Edgecombe Avenue, showed a gun and demanded money from the 32-year-old driver, police said. The suspect ran away with $87 in cash and an iPhone.

The same suspect got into a cab Tuesday morning at the corner of University and East Tremont avenues in the Bronx and asked to be taken to West 149th Street and Edgecombe Avenue, police say.

Once they got to the same location on Edgecombe Avenue where the suspect had robbed the livery cab driver last month, the suspect again showed a gun and demanded cash. He ran away without any money.

Neither cabbie was hurt in the robberies.
