1. Hurricane Maria Made Landfall on Puerto Rico 1 Year Ago

It is the middle of the hurricane season for 2018 and Thursday marks the one year anniversary when Hurricane Maria made landfall on Puerto Rico. 

It hit the island as a Category 4 and caused widespread devastation. Maria was a worst case scenario for the island. 

There has been some progress made in the recovery process, however. But without a doubt, the storm's impacts will be felt for years.

2. Cops Hunt Alligator on the Loose in New Jersey

This one is a crock. Seriously. 

There is an alligator on the loose in New Jersey. Dog catchers in Atlantic County have been looking for it for days. 

The gator's on the small side. It is only three to four feet long, but police are warning people to keep small pets inside.

3. NYC Ranked Best US City to Celebrate Oktoberfest: Study

Oktoberfest is coming up, but according to a new study, you don't even have to leave the city for a top-of-the-notch celebration. 

New York City has taken the top spot in WalletHub’s ranking of the best places in the U.S. to celebrate Oktoberfest in 2018.

Despite having the highest average beer price, NYC was able to reign supreme in the rankings overall with the most accessible bars and the most German restaurants per capita.
