1. NJ Transit Temporarily Slashing Fares, Warns of Service Disruption

NJ Transit plans to slash fares by 10 percent for three months -- from November through January -- as it warns of major service disruptions it anticipates while scrambling to meet a federal safety deadline.

Starting Sunday, Oct. 13, more than a dozen trains will be temporarily discontinued or see changes in their origins and destinations, NJ Transit said.

Passengers who travel along the Northeast Corridor, North Jersey Coast Line, Morris & Essex Lines, Montclair-Boonton and Main and Bergen County Lines will be affected by the changes, according to the agency.

2. Mom Charged for Confiscating 15-Year-Old Daughter’s Phone

A mother got arrested for confiscating her daughter's iPhone, but it's more complicated than you think. 

It turns out the phone belonged to her ex-husband and officials say she was technically stealing. 

Prosecutors later found out it actually belonged to their daughter and dropped the charges.

3. Instagram Teaming Up With Start Up to Help Users Register to Vote

Ready for mid-terms elections? Instagram sure is. 

The company is teaming up with a voter registration start up to help make sure you are ready to head to the ballot box. You may have even noticed the ads in your stories and feeds. 

If you are already registered Insta will have a special "I voted" story stickers on election day.
