FAA Investigates 2 Laser Incidents by Newark Liberty Airport

Federal officials are looking into more laser-pointing incidents at Newark Liberty International Airport.

The Federal Aviation Administration says two flights reported lasers were pointed at them Sunday night.

An ExpressJet flight and a Shuttle America flight landing at around 9 p.m. said they noticed the red lasers about 20 miles southwest of the airport. No injuries were reported.

Lasers can temporarily blind a pilot and are considered a problem at airports around the country.

Newark had 28 reported laser-pointing incidents last year but only three this year through February.

LaGuardia has had 21 reported laser-pointing incidents in the first two months this year. Forty-one were reported for all of 2014.
