Large House Fire Injures 4 on Long Island

A large house fire on Long Island left three residents and a firefighter injured early Sunday morning, officials said.

Three family members living in the home on Marquette Drive in Smithtown were rescued from the 2 a.m. fire by neighbors and police, firefighters said. They were taken to a nearby hospital with injuries. Two were treated for smoke inhalation and one suffered serious burns, police said.

Firefighters battled the blaze for 90 minutes before it was under control. One firefighter was taken to a hospital with minor injuries and then released, authorities said.

The cause of the fire remains under investigation.

Work crews were demolishing what remained of the house Sunday morning.
