NJ Felon With ‘Possible White-Supremacist' Ties Busted on Gun Charges: Police

A New Jersey felon who police said indicated that he had "possible white- supremacist involvement" was arrested over the weekend after he and another man were found in the woods with a stockpile of guns and ammo.

Bruce Post III was arrested in a 60 square-mile forest in Lacey Township on Sunday on several weapons charges, according to authorities. His companion was not charged with any crimes.

Authorities say they found Post, 42, in the woods wearing combat gear after spotting a Hyundai Tuscon parked in the woods. He also allegedly had an AK-47, a handgun and a stockpile of ammunition -- all of which were illegal for him to possess as a convicted felon.

When officers approached, Post allegedly said something that led officers to believe he had "possible white-supremacist involvement, Lacey Township Police Chief David Paprota told the Asbury Park Press. Police did not specify exactly what Post did or said that made them suspect that.

His bail was set at $400,000 full cash, and is being held in the Ocean County Correctional Facility, police said. Attorney information for the man wasn't immediately available.

According to the Asbury Park Press, Post served five years in prison for aggravated assault with a deadly weapon. He was also convicted of hindering prosecution.

The man who was with Post at the time, identified only as a 38-year-old from Hamilton, was detained but not arrested, police said. An ongoing investigation could potentially lead to charges for him as well, according to investigators.

The arrest comes weeks after the police department established a task force to combat trespassing, fire hazards and other criminal activity in the woods near Lacey Township.
