Severe Weather Causes Service Suspensions on LIRR's Port Jefferson Branch

Customers on several Long Island Rail Road branches should expect cancellations and combined trains during the evening rush as crews continue to clear downed power lines and trees from the overnight storms.

Port Jefferson service remains temporarily suspended in both directions between Port Jefferson and Stony Brook as PSE&G works to removed downed power lines blocking trains at the Port Jefferson storage yard, LIRR says.

Oyster Bay branch customers can also expect cancellations and combined trains.

Downed trees caused suspensions on stretches of the rail line between Port Jefferson and Huntington throughout the morning.

As crews worked to clear trees, different sections were shut down, while some parts were restored. Some platform signs were also damaged during the severe weather.
