Service Restored on LIRR Ronkonkoma Line

Service had been suspended in both directions between Farmingdale and Ronkonkoma due to broken rail

Service on the Long Island Rail Road Ronkonkoma line has been restored after it was suspended in both directions between Farmingdale and Ronkonkoma for much of the morning .

A broken rail at Brentwood that caused the suspension has been repaired.

The delay caused major commuting problems for many riders. Dave Stark said his commute to Penn Station would take at least an additional 90 minutes and that there was poor communication from the LIRR.

"There was very little announcements, " Stark said. "And even though they had a train there we could wait in most people were still out in the cold for awhile since they told us to go to the other platform about 10 minutes before we could get on that train."
