A Suffolk County woman was arrested today for leaving her two young children home alone as she went to a bar for an early morning pick-me-up
Carlos Cruz, an acquaintance of the woman, Emelia Garcia-Cobos, received a call at 3:40 a.m. that the children, aged 3 and 4, were left unattended at the mother's East Farmingdale home, Suffolk County police said.
Cruz went to the mother’s home on Lincoln Avenue, found the children alone and called police.Garcia-Cobos allegedly returned home from the bar at 4:05 a.m., cops said.
Garcia-Cobos, 23, was arrested and charged with Endangering the Welfare of a Child. She is scheduled to be arraigned today at First District Court in Central Islip.
A referral was made to Suffolk County Child Protective Services, authorities said.
