Authorities didn't release driver's blood alcohol level

A Long Island driver has been arrested on a DWI charge after police say he struck and killed a pedestrian.

Suffolk County police say Kenneth Serwan of Linderhurst was scheduled to be arraigned on Thursday. Police charged him with driving while intoxicated. They did not release his blood alcohol level.

Police say the 46-year-old Serwan struck a woman on the Sunrise Highway in Amityville at 8:30 p.m. Wednesday. She was pronounced dead at the scene.

It was not immediately clear if Serwan had retained an attorney.
