Suffolk County police say Robert Skinner was wanted on grand larceny charges after representatives from the Make-A-Wish Foundation tipped off authorities that he was accessing funds from the organization that he used for his personal gain.
Police say the 50-year-old suspect was driving with a stolen license and was impaired by drugs when they stopped him in Bohemia, about 40 miles east of the city, at about 1:30 p.m. Tuesday.
They say he also had a forged county parks permit and a handicapped parking permit that didn't belong to him.
Skinner was charged with grand larceny, driving while ability impaired by drugs and criminal possession of stolen property and a forged instrument. His arraignment was set for Wednesday.
