LI Day Care Has License Revoked

State park police said Alexia Karimi, 2, was left behind at Heckscher State Park in East Islip during an outing with Our Little Darlings Early Educational Center

A day care center accused of leaving a 2-year-old girl behind in a New York park after an outing has had its license revoked by the state.

State park police said Alexia Karimi was left behind at Heckscher State Park in East Islip during an outing with Our Little Darlings Early Educational Center.

Her mother, Christina, told Newsday that Alexia wandered several blocks to the beach, where another parent found her and alerted police around 3:30 p.m. Police said the Bay Shore day care center called nearly three hours later to ask if anyone had found Alexia.

The child was not harmed.

The owner and managers of the center declined to comment.

Christina Karimi said she has had no previous problems with the center.

The investigation is continuing.
