Knicks Fan Hits Halfcourt Shot to Win $10,000

The Knicks may have cemented their place at the bottom of the NBA’s Eastern Conference in Wednesday night’s season finale loss, but one person in a blue and orange jersey still came away a big winner.

Shawn Kelly, of West Orange, New Jersey, won $10,000 after bouncing in a halfcourt shot at halftime during the team’s final regular season game against the Pistons.

Videos posted online showed fans at Madison Square Garden erupting into cheers as Kelly drained the shot.

Other fans at the game posted on social media that Kelly missed a layup and three-point shot before hitting the money-winning shot.

It came on fan appreciation night, where the 17-65 Knicks handed out free food and soda to fans who came out to watch the game. Some longtime fans also received autographed jerseys.

Kelly’s luck didn’t rub off on New York -- the Knicks lost the game 112-90, ending the worst season in the franchise’s history.
