Young Mother Tortured for 5 Days After Dad, Grandma Kidnap Her, 11-Month-Old Son: Police

A 20-year-old woman and her 11-month-old son were kidnapped and held captive for five days while the woman was allegedly tortured by the baby's father and grandmother after the mother and child went to their Long Island apartment for a visit, authorities say.

The 20-year-old woman took the child to the apartment on Old Mill Court in Rockville Centre at some point last week after the grandmother sent her a text message asking to see the baby police said. She was met at the door by the child's father, Malachi Blaylock, 20, who lives at the home and against him she has an order of protection stemming from an assault in March.

Blaylock took the baby from the woman's arms and ordered her into a bedroom, where he allegedly restrained her, police say. The father pushed the woman to the ground and told her she couldn't leave; he yelled at her and punched her in the face and body, authorities allege.

Over the next five days, police say the young woman was held against her will while being beaten, stabbed in the hand with a pair of scissors and threatened with a gun. Nassau County Police Inspector Kenneth Lack said she was also whipped with an electric cord, suffering cuts and bruises "over her whole body."

Houston parents say their daughter’s second-degree burns were the result of a nurse microwaving a diaper full of water and applying it to the baby’s foot in an attempt to conduct a blood test. NOTE: Some of the images depicted in this video are graphic. KPRC’s Mark Boyle reports.

The woman tried to flee several times but was blocked by Blaylock at each attempt, authorities said.

On Wednesday, the 51-year-old grandmother, identified as Yolanda Gilreath, and Blaylock transferred the woman and child to a house in Hempstead, where they again held her against her will, police allege.

Blaylock left the apartment Friday night, and the victim found a tablet and managed to call her mother, who went to the Hempstead home and took the 20-year-old woman and the child to the hospital. The baby wasn't harmed; the extent of the injuries to the mother wasn't clear.

Police in Arkansas say the 2-year-old son of a circuit judge was left in a car for roughly four hours and died. KARK’s Josh Berry reports.

Police found Blaylock three days later and arrested him; Gilreath was found shortly after Blaylock and taken into custody as well.

Authorities allege Blaylock kidnapped the woman and child because he was jealous of the young mother's relationship with someone else and wanted to see his son.

Both suspects face charges of first-degree kidnapping, unlawful imprisonment and endangering the welfare of a child. Blaylock also faces strangulation, assault, menacing and criminal mischief charges.

Gilreath denies the charges, saying she and her son did not kidnap the woman. Information on attorneys for the defendants wasn't immediately available.
