Kid Tries to Rescue Kitten From Tree, Needs to Be Rescued Himself

The boy handed down his kitten first, then firefighters helped him climb down the ladder

A boy tried to rescue his kitten from a tree in New Jersey, but ended up needing to be rescued himself, firefighters said. 

A Hackensack Fire Engine went to a home on Mary Street where firefighters found the boy and kitten stuck high in the tree, Hackensack fire Lt. Jay Schlossareck said. 

Firefighters talked to the boy to keep him calm while they extended a portable ladder up to the tree, Schlossareck said. 

The boy handed down his kitten first, then firefighters helped him climb down the ladder, Schlossareck said.
