Deliberations Reach Day 3 in Case of Newark Boys Burned Alive

Lee Evans faces 10 murder-related counts in the deaths of five teenagers who disappeared in 1978.

Jury deliberations resumed Tuesday in the case of a New Jersey man accused of burning five teenagers alive in 1978.

Lee Evans has pleaded not guilty to 10 counts related to the deaths of the teens, whose bodies were never found.

Several family members of the missing teens attended the trial and are awaiting the verdict.

The jury got the case on Friday.

On Monday, jurors asked to review testimony from the prosecution's key witness, who is Evans' cousin.

Philander Hampton testified he and Evans lured the five teens to a vacant Newark house, supposedly to help move boxes, but then trapped them in a closet, which Evans lit on fire.

He said Evans was angry the teens had stolen his marijuana.

Evans is representing himself.
