Jury Convicts Woman of Driving Over and Killing Love Rival: DA

She faces up to 25 years in prison when sentenced in September

A Mount Vernon woman has been convicted of charges accusing her of mowing down a love rival with her car, prosecutors said Monday.

A jury in Westchester County found Carla Scott, 36, guilty of first-degree manslaughter and leaving the scene of an accident, said District Attorney James McCarty.

Scott faces up to 25 years in prison when sentenced in September.

On April 18, Scott struck 37-year-old Glynis Pinto with her 2009 Mercedes Benz as she crossed the street, investigators said. Pinto was launched onto the hood. Scott then drove about 30 yards with her sprawled there. Pinto then fell onto the road and was run over.

She was taken to the hospital unconscious, with serious wounds to her legs and body, and pronounced dead there.

Scott was arrested several days later.
