Beautiful Weather Sunday Ahead of a Muggy Week That Could Bring Rain

New Yorkers watched the 4th of July fireworks under partly cloudy skies and the region can expect more of the same for the days ahead, along with some rain, Storm Team 4 says.

Morning rain showers diminished well ahead of "Macy's 4th of July Fireworks Spectacular," which aired on NBC.

High temperatures peaked in the low 70s during the event, which had thousands of people outdoors looking for a good view.

Temperatures are expected to increase a bit Sunday and Monday, with the mercury climbing back into the 80s, according to Storm Team 4. The weather on Sunday will be perfect for a picnic or beach outing, with comfortable humidity and mostly sunny skies.

It will get more humid and muggy starting on Monday, and there's a chance of rain Monday night into Tuesday. It could be particularly humid and uncomfortable on Tuesday, when thunderstorms could develop.

A chance of thunderstorms returns on Wednesday, Thursday and Friday amid a relatively quiet weather pattern. You might want to bring an umbrella to work throughout the week, just in case showers pop up, Storm Team 4 says.

Expect temperatures in the mid 80s and partly cloudy skies most of the week.
