24 People Busted in Takedown of 2 Alleged Drug Gangs on Staten Island

Authorities have busted two alleged drug gangs they say are responsible for 29 shootings, three murders and a bustling narcotics trade on Staten Island.

Two dozen people are charged in the takedown, nicknamed Operation Jersey Boys after the two crews that operated around Jersey Street in Brighton Beach.

The gangs dealt heroin, cocaine, MDMA and marijuana, authorities say.

"The people of Staten Island are now a lot safer with these violent offenders off the streets," Richmond County District Attorney Dan Donovan said.

One of the killings linked to the group was the shooting death of a 17-year-old girl. She was gunned down when rival gang members were aiming for her brother.
