Man Climbs JFK Airport Fence: Police

A man has been arrested after police say he scaled a fence surrounding John F. Kennedy Airport.

William Deene, 22, of Perth Amboy, New Jersey, was charged with criminal trespass after an airport worker noticed him scaling a fence at about 9:30 a.m. Wednesday, the Port Authority of New York and New Jersey police said.

He also set off a perimeter alarm in the fenced area separating the public from airport property, spokesman Joe Pentangelo said.

The two fences are about a 1½ feet apart on the airport's west side near the Van Wyck Expressway. No flights were interrupted by the incident.

It wasn't immediately known if Deene had an attorney. He was in custody and not available for comment.
