Not even Mussolini wants the cast of MTV’s “Jersey Shore” in Italy. That is – Alessandra Mussolini.

The member of Italian Parliament and granddaughter of former dictator Benito Mussolini is telling Italian newspapers that she is outraged that the mayor of Florence, Matteo Renzi, is allowing the cast of the “tamarri” Italians (the Italian term for what Americans call “guidos”) to film in the city that birthed the Renaissance, reports La Nazione.

“Pure madness” and “shameful” are a two ways Mussolini describes the mayor’s allowance of the GTL (gym/tan/laundry) crew to film Season 4 of the reality show on the streets of Michelangelo, Galileo, and Botticelli beginning May 8.

But Florence’s mayor is not handing over the keys to city. While Renzi has granted use of public land for filming, and possibly the Palazzo Vecchio, the doors of the greatest art museum in Florence – the Uffizi – as well as the Boboli Gardens and other city treasures have been shut in the face of the self-proclaimed guidos and guidettes, reports kataweb.it -- an off-shoot of Italy’s newspaper La Repubblica.

Superintendent of the state museums of Florence, Cristina Acidini, made an official statement saying that the cast is refused all access, reports kataweb.

“[Florence] is preparing to accept with a certain coldness and fear the phenomenon of the Jersey Shore,” reports kataweb.it, in translation.

One university in Florence has asked its students not to sign any releases or allow anyone in the cast into their dorm rooms, reports TMZ. But one thing that TMZ missed in its report is that this is one anti-Jersey Shore action taken by non-Italians in Florence.
