Police said two people are in custody

Two people are in custody after a woman was struck by a car in the parking lot of a Long Island courthouse, police said Tuesday.

Police said a man and woman were arrested. The woman was hit at least twice, authorities said

Suffolk County Police said the man was in court with the mother of his child on a custody issue. He was accompanied by a female friend, as was the mother of the child.

Police said the man and his female friend were in the car, and struck the friend of the mother. The man and his friend were the suspects who were arrested.

Witness Renaica Harris said she used her car to block the two suspects from getting away.

Police said the injured woman was not seriously hurt. She was taken to a hospital.
