VIDEO: Firefighters Battle Huge NJ Blaze

The cause of the fire is under investigation.

Dozens of firefighters battled an early morning blaze in Irvington that engulfed several buildings.

The fire department commander says the blaze started in the alley between two buildings. Both buildings caught fire with minor damage to a third.

The building with the most damage had no occupants. Two families in the second building are displaced.

A mini market on the first floor was closed at the time of the fire.

No injuries were reported.

Chopper 4 pilot Kai Simonson reported firefighters were ordered out of the ablaze buildings at one point due to safety concerns. By 7:30 a.m., it appeared they were working again to contain the third-alarm fire.

The cause of the fire is under investigation.

It broke out just before 6:30 a.m. Thursday.
