Intruder Strikes Long Island Woman Unconscious

Burglar entered victim's home while she was asleep

A Long Island apartment dweller was struck unconscious after she awoke to noise and found a burglar in her living room.   

Nassau County police say the 30-year-old woman was asleep when she heard noise coming from somewhere inside the Hicksville apartment Tuesday night.

She got up and found a man walking toward the front door.     

Police say the man punched her in the face, causing her to fall. He then knelt on her chest and again struck her in the face, causing her to lose consciousness.     

The woman came to about 30 minutes later and called police.     

She was taken to a hospital for treatment of facial injuries and swelling to her face.    

Police say it didn't appear that anything was taken from the home.
