Intrepid President Jumps Ship

Statement says he leaves to "pursue new challenges"

Anchors away for Bill White.

The Intrepid Sea, Air and Space Museum's longtime president has resigned effective immediately, the organization that runs the foundation and museum said Wednesday.

A statement issued by spokesman Howard J. Rubenstein said White stepped down from his role at the helm of the museum -- a job he's held for more than a decade. The statement also said White is leaving the Fallen Heroes Fund and the Intrepid Relief Fund.

The statement said only that White will "pursue other opportunities.''

It thanked White for "20 years of dedicated and tireless service'' and wished him well.
