Husband Shot Dead in Front of Wife in Grocery Store Holdup: Police

A 57-year-old man was fatally shot in front of his wife when armed robbers held up their Connecticut grocery store as they were working, authorities said Sunday.

Jose Salgado was trying to hand money over to the men when one of the assailants shot him, Bridgeport police said. Salgado was taken from the family store, Sapiao's Grocery in Bridgeport, to St Vincent’s Medical Center, but he died within 45 minutes of the attack.

Authorities say they have video of the two suspects walking up to the store on Saturday afternoon, then running out to a car believed to be a bright green Ford Focus, where police say a third person was sitting in the car waiting for them.

Officials are asking that anyone with information call 203-581-5236.
