Hudson Valley Newlyweds Win $1M Lottery Jackpot

The Petersons will get $660,000 after taxes.

A Hudson Valley couple now has a million reasons to go on a second honeymoon just five months after getting married.

Jason Peterson of Saugerties won a $1 million jackpot on a New York Lottery scratch-off ticket. He bought the $20 ticket on Oct. 7 at a convenience store in the town of Ulster while headed to his job at a car dealership in Kingston.

He told local media Tuesday that he first called his wife Joy to tell her the news, then called work to say he'd be late.

The Petersons will get $660,000 after taxes.

They have been married for five months and have three children.

The couple said they expect to take a second honeymoon and put some of the money aside for their kids.
