Authorities say a body recovered in the Hudson River at about noon Monday appears to be that of a kayaker missing since Saturday morning.
The man's body was found in the river near the Poughkeepsie Yacht Club, the Dutchess County Sheriff's Office said.
It matches the description of 32-year-old Ian Jones, who has been missing since he and his girlfriend Tali Fruchtmann, 22, daughter of singer Annie Lennox, went into the water when their kayak overturned in the river.
The two had started kayaking early Saturday and the vessel overturned at about 10 a.m. near Mills Mansion, a historic home in the hamlet of Staatsburg. Neither was wearing a life jacket, and alcohol might have played a role in the accident, authorities said.
Fruchtmann was picked up by passersby on a boat after being separated from Jones in the water.
An autopsy will be conducted to determine the cause of death and to confirm Jones' identity.
