How to Watch Fired FBI Director James Comey's Congressional Testimony Live

The fired FBI director will testify under oath that Trump repeatedly pressed him for his "loyalty" and directly pushed him to "lift the cloud" of investigation

What to Know

  • James Comey was named FBI director by then-President Obama in 2013; President Trump fired him four years later
  • The May 9 firing came amid the FBI's investigation into whether Trump's campaign was linked to Russia meddling in the presidential election
  • The highly anticipated Senate Intelligence hearing begins at 10 a.m. ET

Ousted FBI director James Comey is testifying before Congress Thursday about alleged Russian involvement in the 2016 presidential election, a highly anticipated hearing that some legal experts say could spell trouble for President Trump.

The Senate Intelligence committee hearing starts at 10 a.m. ET. Special TV coverage begins at that time on NBC, replacing regularly scheduled programming, and NBCNewYork.com is streaming it live here. You can also watch the hearing live on the NBC 4 New York app, available for free via iTunes here or Google Play here.

Comey has not spoken publicly since Trump abruptly fired him May 9. His dismissal, four years into a 10-year term, fueled claims Trump's ultimate aim was to quash the investigation and obstruct justice, potentially a federal crime or an impeachable offense. Some experts said Comey's account could bolster such a case.

Trump officials have denied claims of obstruction of justice by the president, and allies have raised questions about Comey's credibility. But the former FBI director's supporters have said Comey is eager to tell his story for the record. He released a prepared statement Wednesday in advanced of Thursday's testimony.
