Man Dressed As Hospital Worker Wanted for Sex Assault of Patient in the Bronx: NYPD

A woman said she was sexually assaulted while in the hospital in the Bronx Friday, authorities said.

The 57-year-old victim was admitted to the emergency room at Bronx-Lebanon Hospital on July 14, authorities said.

It is unclear why she was in the ER.

Police say the victim claimed a man dressed as a hospital orderly touched her breasts and her genital area when he told her to go behind a curtain and remove her underwear.

"That's not right. That's haunting for anyone to experience something like that. You come here for care and this is what happens this is the outcome," said Shameeca Epps, a Bronx resident.

The victim reported the incident the following day to hospital staff while her son called police, authorities said.

“We take all complaints, including such allegations, seriously. At this point, the patient has not identified any specific individual. Regardless, we are cooperating with the NYPD in their investigation as well as conducting our own investigation," said Errol Schneer, a spokesman for Bronx-Lebanon Hospital.

There have been no arrests so far.

This is the same hospital where a disgruntled former employee accessed the hospital while wearing a lab coat and shot and killed a doctor in June.
