NBCNewYork

Police arrested a homeless man who allegedly beat and tried to rob a man hailing a cab outside Port Authority Bus Terminal.

Port Authority Police say the 52-year-old victim was flagging down a taxi at about 5:45 a.m. Monday when he was attacked from behind.

The 31-year-old homeless man is accused of hitting the victim on the back of the head with his fist, and then following him inside the terminal demanding his cell phone and continuing to beat him.

Police arrested the suspect and the victim was taken to the hospital to be treated for his injuries.
